Advanced Email Validation on ScoreApp Lead Forms
Ensure the quality of your leads by leveraging ScoreApp’s Advanced Email Validation feature. This powerful tool helps you collect valid and deliverable email addresses, enhancing your marketing efforts and quality of data entering your business.
Overview
By default, ScoreApp uses basic email validation to check the format of email addresses entered in your lead forms. While this ensures that the email looks correct (e.g., contains “@” and a valid domain), it doesn’t guarantee that the email is deliverable or prevent the use of disposable email addresses.
Advanced Email Validation, available on the Business Tier and upwards, enhances this process by:
- Using a more advanced system for checking the format of emails addresses.
- Blocking disposable email addresses (e.g., from Mailinator, Yopmail).
- Allowing you to check the deliverability of email addresses.
- Allowing you to control the acceptance of free email providers (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo).
Enabling Advanced Email Validation
To enable Advanced Email Validation:
- Ensure you've activated the Business Tier or higher.
- Navigate to your lead form settings in ScoreApp.
- Scroll to the bottom of the lead form settings and enable Advanced Email Validation.
- Configure your settings as per your requirements (detailed below).
Deliverability Setting
Control how the system handles emails based on their deliverability status.
1. Block Undeliverable
Prevents users from submitting the lead form if the email entered is known to be undeliverable.
Use Cases:
- Blocks obviously fake emails like test@example.com.
- Catches common typos, such as johnsmith@gmial.con.
Behavior:
If the system cannot determine the deliverability status, the email will be allowed.
2. Block Undeliverable and Unknown
Blocks emails that are either undeliverable or whose deliverability status is unknown.
Use Cases:
- Ensures the highest quality of email addresses.
- Suitable when you require confirmed deliverability.
Behavior:
Only emails confirmed to be deliverable are accepted.
3. Do Not Check Deliverability
Disables deliverability checks within advanced validation.
Use Cases:
- When deliverability is not a primary concern.
- To maximize the number of leads regardless of email quality.
Free Email Providers Settings
Decide whether to accept emails from free email services like Gmail, Yahoo, etc.
1. Block Free Providers
Blocks users from submitting the lead form using email addresses from common free providers.
Use Cases:
- Targeting businesses exclusively.
- When you prefer corporate or professional email addresses.
Considerations:
May exclude potential leads without business emails.
2. Allow Free Providers
Accepts email addresses from all providers, including free services.
Use Cases:
- B2C businesses or when individual consumers are your target audience.
- To ensure maximum accessibility for all users.
User Experience with Advanced Validation
When a user enters an email address that is blocked by Advanced Email Validation:
Immediate Feedback: A validation error message appears beneath the email field.
Consistent Messaging: The error message is similar to basic validation errors, providing a seamless experience.
Action Required: The user must enter a valid email address that meets the validation criteria to proceed.
Example:
•If test@example.com is entered and blocked due to being undeliverable, the user sees an error like: “Please enter a valid email address.”
